AMHCA’s going greener!

  • Beginning with the November 2009 issue, members will receive the Advocate in electronic format.
  • An e-mail will provide links to articles in that issue, plus a pdf to download if you prefer a printed version.
  • AMHCA must have a working e-mail address for you in order to provide this important member benefit – we don’t want you to miss an issue! Please check your account now and make sure your e-mail address is correct.

The Advocate is AMHCA’s monthly newsletter, providing practice advances and research highlights, association and chapter news, legislative bulletins and licensure updates. Each issue of AMHCA's monthly newsletter presents a feature written by a mental health counselor on a trend or issue important to the field, as well as a round-up of timely news about the profession of mental health counseling, such as Legislative Update, a summary of pertinent federal legislation and what mental health counselors can do to influence it. The newest department is Reflections: On Raising Mental Health Awareness. Other regular Advocate departments include

  • AMHCA Foundation
  • Chapter News
  • Counseling Tips: Fast FAQs to Improve Your Practice
  • The Last Word
  • New Members
  • Noteworthy
  • Student Corner

To keep AMHCA members up-to-date about the work their association is doing on behalf of their profession, each issue also includes a column by either AMHCA's president or the executive director & CEO.
