Donald Mattson Award / Scholarship

 

Each year, one outstanding graduate student in mental health counseling receives the Donald Mattson Award / Scholarship. With this award, AMHCA recognizes a student member who exemplifies the ideal mental health counseling student through outstanding scholastic and academic performance, outstanding counseling practice, or outstanding writing contributions to the field of mental health counseling. This important recognition is accompanied with a scholarship to benefit this student for their service to the field of mental health counseling.

All graduate students are encouraged to apply!

The honoree must meet the following criteria:

  1. Enrolled in a program studying Counseling
  2. Holds minimum of 3.0 GPA in her/his graduate program
  3. Demonstrates dedication to mental health issues in the community and the field of mental health counseling
  4. Exhibits leadership in the community, a graduate program, or related organization.

To apply for this award:

  1. Obtain a nomination from a Faculty Advisor.
  2. Obtain a letter of endorsement from a leader of your AMHCA state chapter.
  3. Provide a biographical statement or resume.
